Speed limit changes on Chemin Saint-Clément and Route 105
Council officially adopts the by-laws for speed limit changes on:
Speed limit reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h.
Speed limit reduced from 70 km/h to 50 km/h.
These modifications are part of the “Mobility and Active Living” strategic pillar of the Strategic Plan, which aims to develop a safe and more accessible transportation network in Chelsea.
Request to Hydro-Québec for Chelsea's electrical network
The electrical network in Chelsea is unstable, and power outages are becoming increasingly frequent, impacting homes and businesses.
Given that these services are indispensable and essential to our daily lives, the municipal Council is asking Hydro-Québec to take the necessary corrective measures and carry out the appropriate work on the electrical network as soon as possible.
Renewal of membership in the Municipal Biodiversity Fund
The Municipality wishes to renew its membership for the period 2024-2028 in the Municipal Biodiversity Fund (MB Fund) program of the Fondation de la faune du Québec.
Since 2021, the Municipality has contributed $1 per household annually to the MB Fund, while the Foundation and its partners double this contribution by adding an equivalent amount.
This renewal makes it possible to support initiatives that help achieve the environmental objectives set out in the Chelsea 2040 Strategic Plan. The Council approved the signing of the renewal agreement by the Municipality.
This project was previously approved in the 2024 three-year capital expenditure plan.
By-law amendment concerning conditions of approval for an additional dwelling unit
The Council approved an amendment to a zoning by-law that will simplify the requirements for adding an extra dwelling unit within a single-family detached dwelling. This change is aimed at increasing the number of housing units available, particularly rental and intergenerational units, throughout the area.
Awarding of contract for purchase and installation of charging stations
The Council approved the purchase of three electric vehicle charging stations. Two of these stations will be installed at the Meredith Center, and the other at Town Hall, all of which will be accessible to the public. This project is part of the Municipality's Sustainable Development Action Plan. A budget has already been allocated for this purpose in the 2024 three-year capital expenditure plan.
Awarding of the contract for work on the trail west of Highway 5
The Council has approved a $307,970.20 contract to develop the trail west of Highway 5. It is important to note that part of the cost will be covered by financial assistance from the “Programme de soutien à la mise à niveau et à amélioration des sentiers” of the ministère de l’Éducation du Québec.
Congratulations to two Chelsea athletes on their participation in the Olympic Games
The Council congratulates two Chelsea athletes, Sophia Jensen and Michael Woods on their participation in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and on their remarkable achievements.
