On June 20, 2023, the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec announced the construction of a new school in Chelsea. Since then, progress has been made. Consult the updated case and relevant documents below.

This work is being carried out by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable and not by the Municipality.
Construction work on the new traffic circle on Chemin d'Old Chelsea at the intersection of Chemin Jean-Paul Lemieux and Chemin de l'Hôtel-de-Ville will begin on September 30 and is scheduled to last until November 2024. Partial and complete obstructions are to be expected.
The Municipality will continue relaying the ministry's information on the Road Works Web page. (In case of discrepancy, the road works info from the ministry prevails over the road works info posted on our website).
The Municipality wants to provide public access to the Gatineau River. The Council and Administration are currently working to complete this project as quickly as possible.
The Municipality is conducting feasibility and environmental studies at the sites selected by the Council. These studies will assess the facilities required to ensure the proposed accesses are user-friendly and safe.
To preserve its water resources, the Council has adopted a draft by-law imposing a temporary moratorium on new construction in the Centre-Village. This measure, in force from July 2, 2024 for a period of two years, will help to modernize infrastructures and ensure long-term sustainable development.
