Beginning of Hollow Glen dam renovation work

August 18, 2014

The Municipality of Chelsea would like to inform the residents that the Hollow Glen dam renovation work will begin on August 26, 2014. The work estimated to $ 1 million dollars should have a duration of two months and intends to bring the dam up to the standards prescribed for such an infrastructure.

The Hollow Glen Road will remain closed to circulation between Cadillac and des Castors Roads until the completion of the first portion of work estimated for the end of October. A detour on Kelly and de la Montagne Road is in place to facilitate the circulation in the sector. The renovation work will allow the Mountains Lake to return to its historic level of 103 meters.

The Hollow Glen Road was designated a dam in April 2011 by the Centre Hydrique du Québec (CEHQ). The Municipality is taking all the necessary steps to complete the upgrade work required since that date. Although the project is being managed jointly by the Municipality of Chelsea and the MRC des Collines de l'Outaouais, it is the MRC that awarded the construction mandate on May 15, 2014 and therefore received all the required approvals by the ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Occupation du territoire (MAMOT) to begin the renovation work.
