Eight projects selected to the Fonds vert

Following the first call for projects launched in June under the Fonds vert, the Municipality of Chelsea has accepted a total of eight projects, both community and municipal. These projects will receive financial assistance.

 

Selected community projects:

  • ACRE : wildlife inventory project using hunting cameras on various lands owned by the organization in order to optimize the management of lands dedicated to conservation and education of residents.
  • Dendroica : A project to raise awareness and reduce accidental bird mortality in windows with safety devices for municipal buildings and some private residences.
  • Chelsea Elementary School : A project to install bike racks to encourage students and teachers to use an active mode of transportation to come to school and thus reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Sentiers Chelsea Trails : project to build a trail linking the Hendrick Farm development to the Gatineau sector in order to promote and make accessible active transportation between the City of Gatineau and the Municipality of Chelsea.
  • SAFE Chelsea : pilot project to install flower boxes on Chemin d'Old Chelsea to reduce vehicle speeds, protect pedestrians and cyclists and encourage active transportation.

 

Selected municipal projects: 

  • Charging stations : installation of charging stations for electric vehicles in partnership with the CREDDO and Tourisme Outaouais.
  • Boat washing station : pilot project for the operation of a temporary boat washing station aimed at disinfecting the boats of Gatineau River users and making them aware of invasive alien species.
  • Chelsea Creek Trail : Geotechnical studies for the construction of a trail linking the Chelsea Creek development and the Boulevard de la Technologie in Gatineau.

 

About the Fonds vert
 

Launched earlier this year, the Fonds vert aims to support environmental, sustainable development and active transportation initiatives by providing financial leverage and municipal support.

The next call for projects will take place from September 1st to October 31st for initiatives planned in 2022. Each project selected will be eligible for a financial contribution as follows:

  • Projects of $5,000 or less: The amount awarded could represent up to 75% of the total value of eligible expenses.
  • Projects of $5,001 to $25,000: The amount awarded could represent up to 50% of the total value of eligible expenses.
