This morning, the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), in partnership with the Municipality of Chelsea, the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais Police Department, Grand-Boisé Elementary School and Chelsea Elementary School, launched an awareness campaign on reckless behaviour and speeding around Chelsea elementary schools.
Whether on foot, skateboard or bicycle, a large number of children and adults travel through the school zones of both Chelsea Elementary Schools. Several reckless behaviours are observed every day in the areas surrounding these schools. The SAAQ has given itself the mandate to increase public awareness. The campaign will be deployed in two parts. First, posters will be placed in front of elementary schools to raise awareness among local motorists who use these roadways on a daily basis. Secondly, in 2023, elementary school students will participate in various awareness activities, including the distribution of pamphlets to motorists with the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police officers.
The Municipality would like to thank the SAAQ for the deployment of this campaign and is pleased to be part of the project, which will bring about change for the safety of our children around elementary schools.
