Preventive boil water advisory lifted for the entire water aqueduct system on August 21

August 21, 2024

The Municipality of Chelsea's Public Works, Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility Department wishes to inform the public that the precautionary boil water advisory has now been lifted for all residents served by the municipal water aqueduct system. The situation has been fully resolved, and water can be safely consumed. The advisory had been issued on August 16, 2024, due to low chlorine levels in the water.

Additionally, the Department would like to remind residents that the notice to reduce drinking water consumption, which has been in effect since August 14 due to ongoing maintenance work at the filtration plant following recent heavy rains, will remain in place until August 31, 2024. The cooperation of residents is essential to facilitate these operations.

To support the conservation of drinking water, we kindly ask residents to follow these recommendations:

  • Reduce the use of household appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines;
  • Limit the duration of showers;
  • Refrain from watering lawns or washing cars;
  • Remember to turn off the tap when not in use.

We would like to thank the residents for their continued cooperation.

We strongly encourage residents served by the aqueduct network to sign up for the Pivot citizen portal.

Among Pivot's main features is the ability to send customized notices and alerts on various subjects, including the aqueduct system (e.g boil notice, pressure drop, request to reduce water consumption, network audit notice, etc.).

To stay informed, you can choose your preferred notification method (email, text messaging, or automated call).
