Road closures for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Gatineau

The Grand prix cycliste de Gatineau (GPCG) will take place on the territory of Gatineau Park on June 7, 8 and 9, according to the following information:

  • Female UCI WE 1.1:
    • Date:  June 7, 2018 ;
    • Gatineau park will be closed to circulation from 4 :45 pm to 7 :30 pm
    • Start line:  5:30 pm at the corner of Brodeur street and Lac-Des-Fées.
    • Route used in Gatineau Park: Lac-Des-Fées / Left on Gamelin road/right on Promenade Gatineau until Chemin Dunlopp / right on promenade Fortune / left on promenade Champlain / left on Promenade Gatineau (second loop) until Chemin Dunlopp / right on promenade Fortune / left on promenade Champlain / right on promenade de la Gatineau (toward boul. des Allumetières).  The race will then continue on the territory of the city of Gatineau
  • Barrier to traffic : We will have to stop traffic at the following intersections when the competitors will pass by : 
    • 1) ch. Meech at the intersection of promenade de la Gatineau
    • 2) ch. Meech at the intersection of ch. Dunlop and promenade de la Gatineau
    • 3) ch. Dunlopp at the intersection of promenade Fortune.  
    • We expect that it will take a maximum of five (5) minutes for the peloton to cross each of the intersections. Once cyclists are on Fortune Drive (estimated time between 6:00pm and 6:15pm), we will keep access to the parc closed until the participants return to the Gatineau Parkway.
    • 4) We will have to ask the drivers of vehicles parked in the different parkings around, to leave the Gatineau park in the direction of Chelsea via the Gatineau Parkway in order to avoid the vehicles moving in front of the peloton.
  • Chrono Gatineau UCI WE 1.1:
    • Date:  June 8, 2018 ;
    • Gatineau park will be closed to circulation from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm between Gamelin road and promenade de Champlain
    • Start line:  6:30pm at the corner of Brodeur street and Lac-Des-Fées.
    • Route used in Gatineau Park Lac-des-Fées/ left on Gamelin road/ right on promenade Gatineau until Pink Lake lookout / half-turn in the parking lot of the Pink Lake lookout / promenade de la Gatineau (toward boul. des Allumettières).  The race will then continue on the territory of the city of Gatineau
    • Barrier to traffic: We will have to redirect traffic at the intersection of Gatineau Drive and Champlain Drive (MICA) to Chelsea via the Gatineau Parkway. Only vehicles wishing to park at Pink Lake will be able to continue to the parking lot.
  • Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo:
    • Date:  June 10, 2018;
    • Gatineau park will be closed to circulation from 7 :00 am to 1 :00 pm;
    • Start line:  7 :30 am at the corner of Brodeur street and Lac-Des-Fées
    • Route used in Gatineau Park:  Lac-des-Fées,/ Left on Gamelin road / Right on Promenade Gatineau until Chemin Dunlopp / right on promenade Fortune / right on promenade Champlain / half turn at Champlain lookout / right on Promenade de la Gatineau (toward boul. des Allumettières) / right on promenade du Lac-des-Fées.  Gran Fondo participants will continue to Belvédère Champlain and return to the finish line on Lac-des-Fées .;
    • Barrier to traffic: We will have to stop traffic on the Meech road at the following intersections:
      • 1) ch. Meech at the intersection of promenade de la Gatineau  
      • 2) ch. Meech at the intersection of Dunlop road and promenade de la Gatineau
      • 3) ch. Dunlopp at the intersection of promenade Fortune
      • We expect to have traffic control at these intersections from approximately 8:15 am to 9:30 am. After the passage of the vehicle brooms (around 9:30 am), we will keep the park closed to traffic until 1:00 pm.
