Welcome Return of a Nurse to the CLSC of Chelsea

April 1, 2019

The Minister of Health and Social Services of Quebec, Danielle McCann, announced, at a press conference held this afternoon, the return of a nurse to the CLSC of Chelsea and the addition of an administrative assistant position.

Last fall, the results of a survey, confirmed by CISSSO data, revealed that hundreds of Chelsea residents had to travel more than a thousand times to other CLSCs in the Collines-de-l'Outaouais region since the abolition of the nurse position at the Chelsea CLSC in 2013.

" Chelsea residents will be better served by the restoration of this routine professional health service, which is essential as a front-line community service," said Mayor Caryl Green.

She noted that the establishment by the Council of a working committee on health services in Chelsea in the spring of 2018 and the creation of an advisory committee on health services in February 2019 had raised awareness among the population, elected officials and the CISSSO on the importance of increasing health services on the municipality's territory.

" The members of Council, along with all residents, join me in expressing our great pleasure with the announcement of the return of a full-time nurse to the Chelsea CLSC, along with the addition of an administrative assistant. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and involvement of the members of the Chelsea Health Services Committee, and particularly the contribution of Councillor Greg McGuire and Mr. Marcel Chartrand. We are extremely happy to be able to count, once again, on the services of a full-time nurse at our local CLSC. This is a wonderful announcement today by the government! " added Mayor Caryl Green.

The advisory committee on health services will now turn to the challenges of adding other services to meet the needs of a population that is growing, and simultaneously adding both youth and seniors.  This includes priorities such as home and school services, the creation of a medical clinic and housing for seniors.
