Tabling of the Sustainable Development Action Plan Update (2018-2021)

It is during the regular meeting that the municipal council tabled the 2021 update of the sustainable development action plan. This update, carried out annually, makes it possible to follow the work and actions that the Municipality has taken in 2018 with regard to sustainable development. The objective of this plan is to shape the Chelsea of tomorrow, in keeping with its history and natural landscapes, by taking action on the environment, the social aspect and the economy. A new action plan will be drafted and adopted in the near future.


Projects 2022: Fonds vert

Within the call for projects of the Fonds vert, eleven projects of an environmental, sustainable development and active transportation nature were submitted. Among these, five projects were selected by the municipal council and will be eligible for financial assistance as well as the support of the Municipality for their realization. Here are the projects selected for the Fonds vert 2022:

Community projects :

  • Mapping of Mountains Lake aquatic plan communities
  • Monarch Waystation
  • Trees of Chelsea

Municipal Projects :

  • Active Transportation - Encouraging Bike Use
  • Incentive for the purchase of cloth diapers (pilot project)

 

Naming the trail that runs through the grounds of St. Mary Magdalene Church

In keeping with the Chelsea Parks and Trails Commemorative Naming Policy process, Council proceeded with the naming of the trail passing through the grounds of St. Mary Magdalene Church at the Council meeting. The trail will be named "Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns" which means "Friendship Trail". This name was proposed by St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in the hope that it would become a place of meditation and healing for all. A dedication ceremony will be held in the spring, stay tuned.


Creation of an additional Environmental Advisor position

Recognizing the importance of the environment and climate change, Council has adopted the addition of a full-time position of Environmental Advisor within the Planning and Sustainable Development Department.
