COVID-19: Closing of municipal buildings until further notice

March 16, 2020

In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to comply with the directives issued by the Government of Quebec, the Municipality of Chelsea informs its residents that all municipal buildings are closed to the public until further notice.

This closure includes:

  • The town hall
  • The public library
  • The community centres
  • The Meredith Centre

All non-essential activities and municipal committee meetings are also cancelled for the time being. The extraordinary sitting of Council meeting scheduled for tomorrow, March 17, will be held by teleconference. This decision was taken following the closure of the Meredith Centre and the directives issued by the UMQ authorizing, exceptionally, municipal councils to sit in a closed-door session.

Essential services are maintained:

  • Fire and police department
  • Collection of residual materials
  • Snow removal operations
  • Urgent road works
  • Activities at wastewater treatment plants and drinking water filtration plants

The Municipality of Chelsea has created a question-and-answer for its residents to answer frequently asked questions.
