As part of the Municipality of Chelsea's 150th anniversary, it's important to highlight its roots while cultivating its future, as the celebratory slogan states. To this end, the Recreation Department is launching a public consultation to find a name for Chelsea residents.
This public consultation will be available via the Cocoriko consultation platform from May 5 to 28, 2025. The public is invited to review the details and submit their opinions and ideas.
Since its first municipal Council in 1875, Chelsea has evolved and enriched itself with a vibrant history and a diverse population. However, there is still no official name for residents. This strong identity project aims to find a distinctive name to embody local identity and pride for future generations.
Criteria to respect
The Recreation Department invites the public to suggest a name that:
- is well pronounced in both official languages;
- is gender-inclusive or gender-neutral;
- meets the standards of the Guide de toponymique du Québec (French only).
