Back to school: Concrete measures to secure the bicycle and pedestrian corridor along Chemin Scott

August 27, 2025

As part of its strategy to improve connectivity within the municipality and promote active transportation, the Municipality of Chelsea has announced the implementation of targeted measures to enhance the safety of the bicycle and pedestrian corridor along chemin Scott as the new school year approaches.

These long-awaited initiatives were designed in particular to enable children to get to school and reach the center-village safely. Since August 4, several improvements have been made along chemin Scott to Route 105, as well as at the pedestrian crossing in front of the school:

  • Installation of markers along the cycle and pedestrian corridor;
  • Reinforcement of maximum speed signage by adding reminders, such as markers on the center line of the roadway;
  • Installation of a yellow marker to indicate the pedestrian crossing in front of the school;
  • Presence of speed cameras in both directions of traffic;

Through these actions, the Municipality of Chelsea reaffirms its commitment to promoting safe travel throughout its road network, particularly in this sensitive area. It urges road users to exercise caution and consideration, especially near schools.
