The Municipality of Chelsea is pleased to announce the opening of the open-water swimming corridor at Farm Point. Located near the municipal dock, this marked 125‑metre course is intended for experienced swimmers who are comfortable in a natural environment without supervision.
This pilot project is part of the Municipality’s efforts to improve public access to the Gatineau River. The swimming corridor will be open daily until August 31.
An Accessible, Regulated and Safe Activity
Open-water swimming offers a unique experience in a natural setting. To ensure it can be enjoyed safely, certain rules must be followed.
Before their first swim, participants are required to complete a risk acceptance form, available on the PiVOT citizen platform. A code of conduct, developed specifically for this first season, outlines recommended practices for using the swimming corridor. Water Quality Monitoring
As part of this pilot project, the Municipality will conduct weekly water quality testing at the swimming site. Results will be published each week on its various communication platforms, including PiVOT. Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the “Recreation and Parks” category to receive updates directly by email.
