Reopening of the library

Starting Saturday July 18, we will be happy to welcome you and to let you choose your own selection respecting proper hygiene and physical distancing.

In order to limit the time of the users inside the library, only access to the documents will be allowed. Access to computers, photocopiers and backpacks will not be available. Animation activities also remain suspended for the moment.

During your visit, we will ask you to follow certain instructions, such as :

  • Wear a mask at all times
  • Respect the two-metre physical distance
  • Limit the number of people in the aisles to one person or one family

 

Please note that this reopening will take place according to a new schedule:

Monday: Closed

Tuesday to Thursday: 1 to 8 p.m.

Friday: 1 to 5 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sunday: Closed

Procedures

  • Choose your books in the catalogue and make sure that the status of the item is « Available ». 
  • Send your request to bibliotheque@chelsea.ca* and include the following information:
    • User name
    • Phone number
    • Card number
    • Item titles and Call number

*We accept telephone requests at 819 827-4019 for those who do not have Internet access.

 

The Library team will prepare the documents and contact you to arrange a date and time for pick-up. A delay of a few days can be expected.

Yes but just one person or family will be allowed at a time in the rows of children's novels and French documentaries.

Documents must be returned via the external drop box.

Access to computers, photocopier and printer will not be permitted at this time.

Newspapers and magazines cannot be consulted on site but can be borrowed.

Seating will be limited.

 

Donations are not accepted at this time.

We do not charge late fees because of the 24 hours quarantine. Fees that were on your file before March 13 remain on your file but may be paid only when we start taking payments again.

Yes. On Saturdays during our opening hours, by debit card only.

At this time, only the Nature Museum (starting September 5) will allow the use of its passes. Even with the pass, you will need to reserve your spot for your visit. Since documents must be quarantined, passes will be loaned on a “first come, first served” basis. No reservation possible.

Normally, the limit is 50 people. To comply with public health guidelines, we reserve the right to limit number of people present or the duration of your visit to the library.

  • Two metres physical distancing anytime.
  • Plexiglass as a protective barrier.
  • Regular hand washing with disinfectant.
  • Wearing a mask or face covering (mandatory in indoor public places) except for children under 10.
  • Cleaning of tables and chairs used by the patrons every 4 hours.
