CHAU: Decision to Postpone Announcement Date

Council welcomed the Quebec government's decision to postpone the announcement of the location of the new university affiliated hospital center. Council had expressed reservations about the choice of chemin de la Technologie as the site for the new hospital. The council asked the government to prioritize a site close to downtown Gatineau in order to avoid urban sprawl, to favour public transit, to protect the natural environment and to take into account population growth and long-term economic development.

In anticipation of Volunteer Week, April 24-30, Council took the opportunity to thank the many volunteers in Chelsea who are involved in making a positive, useful and meaningful difference in their community.

Awarding of the contract for the installation of stone screening on the VVC

Expected by the residents for several months, the municipal council granted, during the meeting, the contract for the installation of stone screening on the Voie Verte Chelsea trail. We still don't know when the work will be done, but it will follow the culvert work that will be done this summer. With the awarding of the contract, the Municipality is ensuring that it will be ready to do the work when the time comes. In passing, the Council thanked the residents and the organization Les Amis de la Voie Verte for their involvement in this file. This work will make the pathway much more accessible to all users and allow better access to people with reduced mobility.

Lot 6 480 257 located at 86 chemin Belle-Terre has been donated to the Municipality. Council has adopted the donation mandate and is pleased to be able to take advantage of this land to build a pathway in the future that will link Belle-Terre Park, McNally Park and the Grand-Boisé School. This initiative will improve active transportation in the area.
