Chelsea Unites with Cantley and Pontiac for the Door-to-Door Collection Communications Campaign

September 17, 2018

The municipalities of Cantley, Chelsea and Pontiac unveiled today the Ensemble on collecte campaign at a joint press conference at the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais. Supported by the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais, this campaign aims to inform, support and equip residents with the beginning of the compost collection.

The campaign emphasizes collaboration to achieve the objectives set by the Government of Quebec. The use of the word ensemble and the pronoun on translate this aspect: "We liked the idea of working together towards the common goal of waste reduction. We wanted to demonstrate the strength of collaboration," says the communication team behind the campaign.

The campaign is deployed in both paper and Web formats and will be personalized according to the needs of each municipality. The graphic identity created by the COLOC cooperative highlights the stages of composting.

"The MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais' waste management plan came into effect in February 2017 following a comprehensive planning and public consultation process. During this exercise, it quickly became clear that achieving the targets set by Québec in this area required an improvement in the management of the compostable organic materials we produce. Faced with this situation, the municipalities of Cantley, Chelsea and Pontiac have decided to set up new compostable material collection services in the near future. The MRC is pleased to support them in these promising initiatives. " - Patrick Laliberté, Director of Sustainable Development at the MRC des Collines-de- l'Outaouais.

DETAILS FOR CHELSEA COMPOST COLLECTION

The collection of organic materials will begin on January 1st in Chelsea. This door to door collection will allow a daily participation from all in the reduction of waste. All residents desiring to continue composting at home are free to do so. This door to door compost collection is, however, complementary to your home composting as many products cannot effectively be in small compost bins. The collected organic materials will be transported to the MRC's center collection located in Val-des-Monts.

The bins will be delivered to your home in early October. It is important to note that the collection will only begin on January 1, 2019. You can, therefore, store the bin while waiting for the official collection to begin.

You will soon receive an informative brochure in the mail giving you more details on some important elements such as the materials accepted, the frequency of collections, the bags to use and the various tips and tricks that exist to make composting easier.
