Meredith Centre staff and volunteers will be on hand to welcome you and allow you to :
- Take a shower;
- Recharge your electronic devices;
- Use the WiFi
- Fill your water containers.
The Chelsea Library, located at 100 chemin d'Old Chelsea, is now open to residents on its regular schedule. Residents will be able to :
- Charge your electronic devices
- Use the WiFi
- Use one of our six workstations
Residents can now contact the Municipality between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 819-827-1124 for any questions.
Update on the road network
On another note, we would like to inform you that our crews have been working since early this morning to clear the roads of fallen trees and branches.
The following roads are currently completely blocked:

- Chemin Ditchfield
Some private roads are completely or partially blocked and will require the intervention of Hydro-Québec.
We invite you to be vigilant and report any tree, branch or electrical wire that may be on the road by calling 819 827-9911 or 911 for any other emergency situation. Precautions to take if you use a generator
Many families are still without electricity and many of them use a generator to make up for the prolonged power outage. It is therefore essential to know the risks associated with this practice in order to prevent them.
There are two main dangers associated with the use of a generator. Electrocution and carbon monoxide poisoning. Standby generators can present fire hazards.
Here are some tips to prevent the above mentioned dangers:
Electrocution
- During a flood, power outages are common. However, it is important to find a dry place for the generator and never place it in a flooded basement.
- Protect the unit from rain by placing it under an awning in case of bad weather.
- When operating the generator, make sure you are in a dry area and that your hands are not wet.
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
- Carbon monoxide poisoning can be fatal. It occurs when a person breathes in too much of this odorless gas.
- Keep the generator in a well-ventilated area.
- If the unit is outdoors, keep it away from openings (doors, windows, vents, dampers, etc.) to prevent carbon monoxide fumes from entering and accumulating inside.
- Install carbon monoxide detectors in your home and check their batteries frequently. If they are electrically operated, make sure they still have a battery backup.
- The main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are dizziness, headache, nausea and fatigue. If you experience any of these symptoms, get out for fresh air immediately.
Fire Hazard
- Generators can become extremely hot during operation.
- Before filling the fuel tank, turn off the unit and allow it to cool. Do not fill the tank while it is still hot.
- Store your fuel in a designated container, away from the generator or any other fuel-powered equipment.
