The Municipality of Chelsea invites residents to participate in the Défi des Collines sans tondeuse by delaying their first lawn mowing this spring.
This simple gesture makes a tangible contribution to supporting pollinating insects—including wild bees and butterflies—by ensuring they have access to vital nectar and pollen resources. In the context of climate change, many pollinator populations are experiencing significant habitat loss, with major repercussions for the environment and biodiversity.
This initiative contributes to protecting natural habitats and biodiversity and aligns with the Nature and Environment pillar of the Municipality’s Strategic Plan. For the fourth consecutive year, Chelsea will also postpone mowing on certain plots of its municipal lands, specifically at the following locations:
If everyone does their part, we can have a positive impact on pollinators and the environment!
