Closing of the municipal offices: update on services offered

Due to the evolution of the pandemic and the measures announced by the Gouvernment of Québec on January 6, administrative offices remain closed to the public.

However, please note that practically all services to residents are maintained. We invite you to consult the list below for details and procedures to follow.

 

Library

In order to adapt to the measures announced by the Gouvernment of Québec, the library had to modify its hours of operation.

New opening hours from January 9 to February 8:

Tuesday and Thursday, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Contactless loan service

Contactless document loan service remain available. Simply select the books you wish to borrow via the catalog and pick them up when they are ready.

Is it possible to come and study at the library?

Yes.

  • You will be asked to provide proof of your student status.
  • You must be a resident of Chelsea and have a library card.
  • Please note that individual work space is limited.
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory at all times.You may present yourself for study according to the library's opening hours.
  • It may also be possible to make an appointment outside of opening hours to come and study. To make a request, please contact us at 819 827-4019 or by email at bibliotheque@chelsea.ca.

To adjust to the situation, some changes may be made.

 

Parks and outdoor ice rinks

Parks and outdoor rinks remain open. However, gatherings are prohibited.

With the new guidelines issued by the Gouvernment of Québec on January 6, a few changes and new instructions apply:

  • Closing of service cabins at Farm Point and Hollow Glen, but installation of picnic tables at the edge of the rinks.
  • Skating or hockey alone or with members of your family bubble only (one field hockey net per rink available)
  • Limit of 15 people per rink
  • Parks and rinks hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 

Permit application

Issuing and renewing permits and certificates continue. However, all applications must be sent by e-mail to permis@chelsea.ca.

Meeting with a municipal employee

It is currently impossible to meet a member of the municipal staff in person. However, the staff remains available by email or telephone. You can consult the Municipal Staff page to obtain the contact information of the person you wish to reach.

 

Council Meetings and Committees

Council and committees meetings continue to be held in virtual mode. There will be no face-to-face meetings between citizen groups and municipal officials.

 

Tax payment

The payment of your taxes can be made:

  • Online at your banking institution by selecting the Chelsea taxes supplier and adding your registration number.
  • By cheque by sending a cheque to the Municipality of Chelsea by mail or by depositing it in the mailbox provided for this purpose at the Town Hall visitors' entrance.

 

Community Centers

All community centers remain closed.

 

Inspections

Interior and exterior inspections are suspended until further notice without penalty to the owners. When the situation returns to normal, municipal inspectors will follow up with the affected homeowners. 

 

Radon testing and H2O program

Radon testing and the H2O program remain suspended for the time being.
