Partnership with MOBI-O to develop a local travel plan for the Chemin Scott area

April 5, 2024

The Municipality of Chelsea is proud to announce its partnership with MOBI-O, the Centre de gestion des déplacements de l'Outaouais et de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, to undertake the development of a local transportation plan for the sector of Chemin Scott.

This project aims to gather information on the issues, needs, and experiences of people using active and public transportation (walking, cycling, mobility aids, transportation on demand, buses, etc.) in this sector.

Based on the information gathered, MOBI-O will propose various courses of action to decision-makers who influence mobility in the area.

The consultation phase of the project will be divided as follows:

Two face-to-face consultation sessions will take place at the Meredith Centre (23 Chemin Cecil):

  • April 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
  • April 27, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

These consultations will take the form of an open house, allowing residents to participate at a time that suits them best. A children's play area, snacks, and beverages will also be available on-site. Thanks to IGA Famille Charles for its food contribution to the event!

Alongside these in-person consultations, an online survey will also be available from April 22 to May 31, 2024.

About MOBI-O

"MOBI-O was founded following the development of the " Stratégie de gestion des déplacements pour Gatineau et sa région " (SGDG), a transportation management strategy for Gatineau and its region, carried out between 2008 and 2010 by the Ville de Gatineau, Société de transport de l'Outaouais, Vivre en Ville and AECOM.

As a result, the SGDG recommended the creation of a transportation management structure adapted and specific to the Gatineau context. The creation of the Centre de gestion des déplacements de Gatineau (CGD) was then made possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministère du transport du Québec through the Programme d'aide gouvernementale aux modes de transport alternatifs à l'automobile (PAGMTAA).

So, in September 2012, MOBI-O became Gatineau's very first one-stop shop for transportation expertise, responding, among other things, to the need to act for:

  1. sustainable development;
  2. change people's transportation habits."
