September 24, 2018

The Fire Department of the Municipality of Chelsea answered nearly 15 emergency calls following the tornado and strong winds last Friday. Fortunately, no major damage or injuries were reported. The calls received mainly concerned fallen wires or trees.

A team of five volunteer firefighters from the Municipality of Chelsea's fire department assisted in the Mont-Bleu sector, at the request of Gatineau, to help residents of the area evacuate their homes to the Red Cross shelter.

The importance of preparing for disasters

It is important:

- to find out about disasters that can happen in your community;

- to have enough water and non-perishable food at home at all times for at least three days to allow you to support yourself in the event that electricity or drinking water becomes unavailable for a long period of time.
