The Chelsea Toy Library has been active for over 10 years and is a purely volunteer-run project under the umbrella of Action Chelsea for the Respect of the Environment (ACRE). Like a book-lending library, we lend toys, games, puzzles, costumes and much more to families with young children. This offers families the chance to 'try before they buy' and also to reduce, reuse and recycle without having to spend on high-priced and cumbersome toys. The Toy Library generally opens once in the week and once at the weekend for an hour and a half during the school calendar. Membership is currently $35 for life. We also organise the only free, weekly drop-in play group in Chelsea for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, carers and their children.
We are looking for a sizeable storage cupboard (approx 140 sq ft) or a spare room with space for adequate shelving enabling a volunteer and member families to come view, borrow and return toys. If you have somewhere we'd love to hear from you. Please contact Tara on jouetschelseatoys@gmail.com
