A Word from the Mayor Caryl Green

The summer season has arrived like a balm over the difficulties of the last few weeks we've been living. With the warm temperatures and the progressive reopening, a certain sort of normality is slowly taking hold, but we must remain cautious. The virus is still there.

For this reason, signs will soon be installed to show you concretely what two meters away looks like. You will be able to see about ten of them along certain bicycle paths, parks and the community trail.

In addition, the municipal offices will reopen their doors on June 8, but with new procedures to follow. Residents wishing to meet with a municipal employee will first have to make an appointment. Traffic patterns have also been reviewed and masks will be mandatory for all visitors. I invite you to read carefully the instructions that will be announced soon.

Despite all the procedures that will be put in place, I promise you activities this summer in Chelsea! The Recreation Department, in partnership with Music @Mill Road, is launching the season with Concert to Go, a show broadcast live on YouTube on June 5th featuring local musicians and restaurateurs. A dozen musicians will be on hand to celebrate with you!  The first Musical Tuesdays show will also be held virtually on July 14. More announcements will follow soon. Stay tuned!

While all of this is being reorganized, the Master Plan review process continues. After consultations with organizations and residents' associations, next week it will be your turn to have your say in the visioning exercise through an online survey. This will allow us to identify your concerns as well as the strengths and weaknesses of our municipality. Your participation is important!

As you can see, everything continues, but in a different way. Everyone is mobilized to accompany you, entertain you and protect you. It may be a long time before we get back to normal, but we will all get there together, united and determined. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding in the face of all these changes. Thank you also to Council and the municipal staff for their work. You have been able to keep our projects moving ahead and adapt to all these ups and downs.

Stay well,

Caryl Green
