The Municipality of Chelsea has lifted the local state of emergency after municipal crews, with the help of contractors, secured the roads and infrastructure affected by the recent torrential rains. Repair work continues on some streets and infrastructures, and we thank residents for their patience and crews for their dedication.
The situation has now been restored and water is safe to drink. However, the notice to reduce drinking water consumption is still in effect until August 31.
Construction of a new elementary school in Chelsea is a top priority, with the municipal council working diligently to meet deadlines and ensure the project begins this fall.
The Municipality wishes to inform its residents that the notice issued on August 16 is still in effect for the entire aqueduct network.
We are asking residents served by the aqueduct system to reduce their drinking water consumption, starting immediately. Rest assured: the water remains potable and safe to drink.
The Council voted unanimously to extend the local state of emergency for 10 days, due to the current damage.
The Municipality of Chelsea declared a state of local emergency throughout its territory at 9:10 a.m.
On August 27, the Municipality's Fire Department, in partnership with Héma-Québec, is organizing a blood drive at the Meredith Centre.
