Cancellation of interest and penalties on outstanding tax account balances

January 14, 2022

At the regular Council meeting on January 11, 2021, Council unanimously decided to cancel interest and penalties on outstanding tax account balances. The cancellation applies for the period extending from March 1st to June 30th 2022. This decision was made to help residents during this uncertain time and the situation will be reassessed in June 2022 for payments subsequent to that date..

Postdated cheques already received will be cashed on the due dates unless residents request otherwise. We encourage all those who are in a position to make their tax payments to do so on the due dates in order to maintain the Municipality’s cash flow.

Delayed payment

Please note that arrangements made with some taxpayers for late tax payments will remain in place. If you do not think you will be able to comply with your agreement, please notify us at taxation@chelsea.ca.

Preauthorized debit payments

To stop pre-authorized debits and payments made through a financial institution, you must contact your institution directly to make the necessary changes.
