Purchase of Hydro-Québec lots : update

May 19, 2020

Since the information session held on February 17 on the purchase of Hydro-Québec lots, municipal officials have met with about 50 owners of lots adjacent to the Gatineau River. They have reviewed with them their certificate of location or deed of sale in order to reassure them that the purchase of Hydro-Québec lots will not have any impact on the shape or surface area of their property as it appears today on the Québec cadastre.

The majority of residents are not opposed to the purchase of Hydro-Québec lots, but are concerned about the future of their private structures located on the riverbank or on the right-of-way of the community trail. In this regard, the municipal team is working with council on a policy that will address the situation. In the meantime, the purchase of lots from Hydro-Québec is continuing its course and will be finalized during the summer.

The purchase of Hydro-Québec lots has three objectives :

  • to provide public access to the Gatineau River in order to enjoy its benefits
  • to conduct surveys and municipal works when required to ensure the proper stabilization and drainage of the community trail
  • to respect private docks ownership
