At the close of the nomination period, if more than one person runs for mayor or for one or more municipal councilor positions, an election will be held.

You can vote in advance on Sunday, October 26, 2025, between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., or on election day, Sunday, November 2, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

To vote in the general election on November 2, 2025, you must meet all the following requirements on that date:

  • Be registered on the electoral roll;
  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Not be legally incapacitated under the law or as a result of a court ruling;
  • Have been a resident of the Municipality of Chelsea and Quebec for at least six months

OR, if you are not domiciled in Chelsea:

  • own a building in the municipality
  • or have occupied a business establishment in the municipality for at least twelve months.

If you do not live in the municipality but own or co-own a building, or if you operate a business there, you may be eligible to vote. Contact the Chief Electoral Officer to verify your eligibility before the revision board completes its work.

To vote, you must meet the criteria listed in the “Who can vote” section above and be registered to vote at your home address.

How can you check your registration?

You will receive a registration notice in the mail in early October. This notice will tell you whether you are registered to vote. If you notice any errors, follow the instructions on the notice to correct them. If you have not received the notice, contact your election officer or visit the Revision Board on October 15 and 16, 2025.

Important: On election day, you will not be able to register or change your address.

The Revision Committee will meet on October 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on October 16, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 100 Chemin Old Chelsea, J9B 1C1. Bring two identification documentation to verify your name, date of birth, and address.

This is your opportunity to correct any errors, register, or change your address on the electoral list before election day.

In early October 2025, a registration notice will be sent by mail informing voters where they can go to exercise their right to vote and the opening hours of polling stations.

To vote, voters must present one of the following identification documents:

  • Health insurance card
  • Driver's license
  • Canadian passport
  • Certificate of Indian status
  • Canadian Forces identification card

Advance voting will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chelsea Elementary School (74 Chemin Old Chelsea, Chelsea J9B 1K9).

Are you unable to travel for health reasons?

If your health prevents you from traveling to vote on advance poll day or election day, you can apply to your election chair to vote at your home or in your room if you are in a health care facility.
