April 21, 2020

In the aftermath of the tragedy in Nova Scotia that claimed multiple lives, Mayor Caryl Green has asked that the flags at City Hall be flown at half-mast. This symbolic gesture is intended to show solidarity and support for the people of Nova Scotia and the families and loved ones of the victims.

“Nova Scotia is going through an extremely difficult time as a result of this series of violent acts. On behalf of municipal Council, staff, and residents, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.” - Mayor Caryl Green

As of April 21, the killing had claimed 20 lives, including the shooter. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has warned that because of the multiple crime scenes, the death toll could rise. This is the worst mass killing in Canadian history.
