At the close of the nomination period, if more than one person runs for mayor or for one or more municipal councillor positions, an election will be held.

You can vote in advance on Sunday, October 26, 2025, between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., or on election day, Sunday, November 2, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

 

 

Check your registration on the electoral roll

 

To vote in the general election on November 2, 2025, you must meet all the following requirements on that date:

  • Be registered on the electoral roll
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Not be legally incapacitated under the law or as a result of a court ruling
  • Have been a resident of the Municipality of Chelsea and Québec for at least six months 

OR, if you are not domiciled in Chelsea:

  • Own a building in the municipality
  • OR have operated a business in the municipality for at least twelve months

If you do not live in the municipality but own or co-own a building, or if you operate a business there, you may be eligible to vote. Contact the Chief Electoral Officer to verify your eligibility before the Revision Committee completes its work October 21.

 

To vote, you must meet the criteria listed in the “Who can vote” section above and be registered to vote at your home address.

 

How to check if you are registered?

You will receive a registration notice in the mail in early October. It will tell you whether you are registered to vote. If you notice any errors, or if you have not received the notice:

  • contact your Election Chair or
  • see the Revision Committee between October 14 and 21, 2025 (Two additional dates have been added to help you prepare to vote.”​​​​​​)

Important: On election day, you will not be able to register or change your address.

 

Verify your voter registration online

An online platform (in French only) is now available to help voters:

  • Confirm their registration on the electoral list
  • Find their polling station and district

Simply enter your postal code and civic number to access relevant information, organized under different tabs.

  • October 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Farm Point Community Centre (331, Chemin de la Rivière)
  • October 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Town Hall (100, Chemin Old Chelsea)
  • October 16, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Town Hall (100, Chemin Old Chelsea)
  • October 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Hollow Glen Community Centre (12, Chemin du Parc)
  • October 20, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Town Hall (100, Chemin Old Chelsea) - *New
  • October 21, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Town Hall (100, Chemin Old Chelsea) - *New

 

Bring two forms of identification to verify your name, date of birth, and address.

This is your opportunity to:

  • correct any errors,
  • register, or
  • change your address on the electoral list before election day.

In early October 2025, voters will receive a registration notice by mail with details on where to vote and when the polling stations are open.

Are you unable to travel for health reasons?

If your health prevents you from travelling to vote on advance voting day or election day, you can apply to your Election Chair by October 21 to vote from home or from a health-care facility.
