Last fall, for the fourth time since its creation, the Fonds vert launched a call for projects to receive environmental, sustainable development, and active transportation projects.
At its ordinary meeting on April 2nd, the municipal Council presented the six following projects. These projects will receive financial assistance to help them achieve their initiatives.
Selected community projects
- Largemouth Bass Removal and Monitoring: project to eradicate the invasive largemouth bass population in Kingsmere Lake and organize awareness-raising activities for residents.
- Meech Creek Ecological Study: the ecological study of Meech Creek involves raising awareness among residents.
- Light pollution survey component: data collection on residents' knowledge of light pollution, in conjunction with awareness-raising campaigns.
- In-depth study of phosphorus compound dynamics - Mountains Lake: assessment of potential sources of nitrogen and phosphorus of Mountains Lake to design effective strategies to reduce the impact of these pollutants in the lake.
Selected municipal project
- Incentive for the purchase of sustainable personal hygiene products: pilot project offering financial assistance to Chelsea residents for the purchase of sustainable personal hygiene products.
- A flourishing project for Chelsea's 150th anniversary: an initiative to plant flowers and native plants to encourage the presence of pollinators and beautify the Town Hall. In addition to installing local artworks and birdhouses, enriching the community space with creativity and life.
About the Fonds vert
Launched in 2021, the Fonds vert aims to support environmental, sustainable development, and active transportation initiatives by providing financial leverage and municipal support.
The next call for projects will occur in the fall of 2024 for initiatives planned in 2025.
