Designation of additional persons to enact fire safety standards

The purpose of the by-law to enact fire safety standards on the territory of the Municipality of Chelsea is to provide a framework of rules and provisions for the protection of persons and property against fires of all kinds.

At present, the Fire Chief or his representative can only order an offender to remedy conditions that do not comply with the by-law, not enforce it.

For this reason, the Council has approved that the following persons may enforce the by-law and take penal action against any person who does not comply with it:

  • Fire Chief;
  • Operations Chiefs;
  • Captains;
  • Lieutenants;
  • Director of Legal Services and Clerk's Office;
  • Assistant General Manager.
