NATURAL RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Mandate

The Natural Resources Advisory Committee (NRAC) advises Council on provisions of Section 4.15 pertaining to wetlands of the municipal zoning by-law number 636-05.  The Committee provides recommendations to update data concerning the identification of existing wetlands.  It also ensures the implementation of the four (4) principles listed in Article 4.15.5 of the municipal zoning by-law number 636-05 in view of the municipal policy respecting wetlands mitigation measures and the community education initiative.

At Council's request, the Committee:

  • Works in conjunction with developers to prepare mitigation plans and compensation measures for all projects that are likely to impact wetlands;
  • Advises Council on development projects that may have an impact on natural resources;
  • May receive other specific mandates to provide recommendations on matters related to the environment.

The Committee meets at 7 pm in the basement boardroom of the Chelsea Library , located at 100 Old Chelsea Road, when required.
